Gen3 tubes feature a new automation friendly cap design. The 2D bottom code is protected by a rim against mechanical influences (i.e. scratches), and there’s room on the back for customised coding.

These innovative SAFE^® 96 2D barcoded, racked tubes are a must have for any laboratory requiring safe and efficient long term storage of microlitre volumes of samples for applications such as bio-banking, epidemiological studies, cohort studies, transfusion medicine, compound management, cryopreservation and forensics.

Caps can be removed manually (see our single and multi-tube decapper/pickers) or using an automated decapper/picking system.

The bottom of each individual tube is precision laser-etched with a unique 12 digit 2D matrix using a ‘wet-on-wet’ process. This process means that the black components, which carry the 2D code, cannot be separated from the tubes through mechanical, chemical or thermal influences. This helps ensure samples have maximum code security with optimal legibility even at cryo-temperatures.
